Character: Ikaruga
Canon: Fairy Tail
Canon point: Chapter 92 (To clarify canon point, there is a slight difference between episode 38 in the anime and chapter 92 in the manga - in episode 38 when she loses to Erza, Ikaruga’s sword breaks but she has no visible wounds, whereas in chapter 92, she receives a chest wound, but her sword is left in tact. I forgot about the difference when I put in my canon point as episode 38, sorry about that!)
OU or AU?: OU

Disposition:
Ikaruga is an elegant and refined woman. She likes to speak in a poetic manner, enjoys singing, and moves gracefully. She appreciates the arts, and can even muster poetry (and subsequent criticism of said poetry) when she’s barely conscious. She has excellent posture and carries herself like a lady. Even when insulting someone, Ikaruga is never crude. She might chide someone for their lack of manners or for being immodest, but she doesn't use vulgar words. She considers it quite beneath her, although she does tolerate vulgarity to an extent in her allies. Fellow Trinity Raven assassin Vidaldus Taka is rather vulgar (he says "Go to hell" quite cheerfully in the presence of their employer, as an example), but she accepts him because he is an ally she has worked with for some time. Ikaruga is accepting of allies she can trust. The third member of Trinity Raven, Fukuro, is half-man and half-owl. At no point is she ever shown regarding him with disdain on the basis of his appearance, even though his appearance clearly bothers mages who are accustomed to oddities. She’s also surprisingly loyal for a person in her profession, considering that she’s been part of the same guild for fifteen years and worked with the same team for at least ten of those years.
As refined as Ikaruga may be, one shouldn't forget that she is also a hired killer who is perfectly comfortable with carnage and destruction. In the past, Ikaruga, Fukuro and Vidaldus Taka took on every ranking officer in the Western Army during the Cabria War and killed them all. She doesn't shy away from combat, and tells Erza Scarlet that she will not hesitate to cut down her opponent, even if they are naked. She does, however, prefer a challenge. When Sho (who is no match for her) attacks, she temporarily disables him by attacking his nerves so that she can focus on the opponent she deems more skilled - Erza Scarlet, an S-class mage (the highest mage rank). She also approaches her opponents openly with her weapon in hand rather than hiding and taking them by surprise. Ikaruga is an assassin, but she prefers to face opponents with weapons in hand rather than using less direct methods like poison or sneaking up on them. Ikaruga enjoys fights that challenge her and smiles at the prospect of a good fight. In fact, the only time that she actually looks excited at any point in canon is when she’s right in the midst of her fight with Erza and Erza is using her most powerful armour thus far.
Ikaruga is a very proud woman. She holds herself to very high standards, and maintains control over her emotions. The only time she shows anything more than mild annoyance is when she believes she is being underestimated. Usually, she maintains a calm and slightly smug expression and looks as though very little troubles her. To an extent, this is true. She isn't afraid of being injured, and doesn't even fear impending death. In fact, she is at peace with the idea of dying. Upon learning that she and her team might be blown up, she doesn’t even flinch and continues on with her job as calmly as one might walk through a garden on a nice day.
With Ikaruga’s pride comes a perfectionistic streak. She’s refined the combination of her magic and swordsmanship to the extent that she can strike a nerve in a person’s body without damaging the cloth or skin. She can demolish magical armor with no substantial physical damage to the wearer’s body. It’s a degree of precision that takes an immense amount of hard work, discipline and determination to achieve. She isn’t one for wanton destruction and takes pride in inflicting the exact amount of damage that she intends to and nothing more. Although Sho attacks her, she does no more damage than what’s needed to keep him from interfering with her fight with Erza.
However proud she may be, Ikaruga's pride doesn't blind her to other people's competence. She can work with others, and she can praise her opponents for their strength and wise decisions. Some of this is her appreciation of people who can challenge her, some of it is simply being sensible, and some of it is due to the high standards she holds for herself. Inability to recognize a skillful opponent is almost a guarantee of being defeated and reflects poorly on one's observational skills and judgment. Having worked for fifteen years in a dark guild that specializes in assassinations, Ikaruga can appreciate the value of accurately assessing an opponent's skills. She estimates Erza’s defensive abilities correctly and lost narrowly because she slightly underestimated Erza’s offensive capabilities.
Under pressure: Ikaruga maintains a level of calm under pressure that borders on unnatural. She doesn’t fear pain or death and is at peace with the idea that they’ll happen eventually - she’s just not going to passively allow them to. Ikaruga is confident in her abilities, and has faith that either she’ll succeed, she won’t be entirely successful but will adapt and make a situation at least salvageable, or she’ll fail and die and then it won’t be her problem anymore. That being said, she will take situations seriously when it’s warranted and put in her best effort to solve the problem. She’s serene, not apathetic.
She won’t be pleased at finding that her health and magic levels are dependent on manna, but given that it’s easy to come by, she won’t have a real problem with things like holding hands or taking a person’s arm to go for a walk and will shrug that off as an odd quirk of the world she’s found herself in. Where she’s more apt to struggle is when it comes to the emotional intimacy requirement to generate a significant amount of manna. While she is entirely capable of loyalty and caring about others, she’s accustomed to reserving those kinds of feelings for guildmates and maintaining a sense of detachment toward everyone else. Given the nature of her previous career, it was better that way. Now, she’ll have to force herself out of her comfort zone to emotionally connect beyond friendly acquaintanceship if she wants to tap into any significant amount of her power. The fact that she’s alive when she fully expected to die will be something that she’s warily appreciative of. The transformations are liable to disturb her the most, especially since it’s entirely involuntary. While she won’t panic, she will investigate if there’s anything that can be done to stop them. She’ll also be very intent on learning as much as she can about the world she’s found herself in to ensure that she thrives in it.
Condition upon arrival: She will be arriving with a wound across her chest and will need that to be healed.
Abilities:
Superhuman speed - Ikaruga can move too fast for the human eye to see
Magic - Ikaruga states that she is able to cut through anything with her magic, and manages to easily cut through magical attacks, inflict nerve damage without cutting the skin or cloth on a person’s body, cut dimensional space of a small pocket dimension, and destroy magically enhanced armor. One ability, Yasha’s Empty Flash, allows her to cut through objects (including magical swords and armor) telekinetically rather than through touching them with her blade. With a second ability, Garuda Flame, she summons flames from her sword with an attack range that is roughly the width of a two-lane road, approximately a quarter of a mile in length, and potent enough to destroy armor that’s resistant to fire magic. Like other mages who channel magic through items (in her case a sword), Ikaruga can summon her blade to her so long as she's within a few miles of it. She also produces a magical aura that looks like glowing pink sakura petals.
Sensing magic - Ikaruga is able to sense magic precisely enough to distinguish between magic coming from the mage versus magic coming from their clothing. When Erza switches out her damaged magical armor for an outfit made of ordinary cloth, Ikaruga notices and takes it as an insult to her skills.
Power nerfs: Powers will be dependent on manna levels. Using magic to cut through things that are entirely possible to cut through with a normal sword will involve very little manna drain. Using something like Garuda Flame, Yasha’s Empty Flash or cutting through magical attacks will require considerably more manna. In a peaceful environment with easy to come by income and no clientele, she’s unlikely to use any of her more powerful attacks. The majority of her powers aren’t likely to be used regularly - why burn off energy needlessly and give people the chance to learn about what she can do? They might come out now and then if she finds she needs to defend herself, or quickly escape from a natural disaster, but beyond that, she’d rather conserve her energy, watch, and wait.
Inventory: Her sword Mugetsu-ryu, and the clothes on her back
Gembond: Emerald
Gem Location: Base of her neck just above her collarbone.
